This a a beautiful story of a frog who could not afford a bicycle like all his friend had enjoyed driving around. He got up on his birthday and his mother sent him to the bakery to get cakes and sweets for his birthday guests that had been invited. On his way home he met several of them who said they weren’t sure they could come to his party. By about 4:30 P. M. No one had showed up for his birthday party. He was very sad and afraid no one would come because he did not have a bicycle. He heard a noise in the kitchen and there was all his friends and his mother wheeling in a bicycle. He was made very happy and said he would remember this party forever.

This sweet short story about Errol the frog completely won over my grandkids. Errol dreams of having a bike like his friends but sadly his mom can’t afford one. Well at least that’s what he thinks! But just like all good surprises, his mom and his friends work together to find a way to surprise Errol for his birthday.
 The illustrations are colorful and full of charm. My grandkids especially loved the party scenes and pointing out all the fun details. It’s the kind of book that opens the door to gentle talks about gratitude, kindness, and how good it feels to give to others.
