The 7-Minute Speed-Writing Journal through Grief

“We all experience grief. The question is, how do we wade through it? Alone? Through group work? With close family and friends? Mindy provides a new way to creatively and introspectively follow a series of thought-provoking and inspirational concepts to write and express your grief while gaining core insights about yourself and those you grieve. Seven minutes, not a huge commitment to create your path through the grief process.”
Scott Ormerod
“This exercise is invaluable; it is consistent with the literature on effective coping and facilitated my own memory regarding the things I cherish most about my loved one. It helped refocus my grief toward growth and the creation of that lasting memorial. We often give lip service to the idea of someone being ‘always with us,’ but it can be difficult to really feel that it’s true. Writing about the ways in which I am their memorial, focusing on specific qualities they had that I also have (or can develop), helped me to feel closer to them and provided a mechanism for generative coping. It’s also a short exercise (they all are), which is crucial when one simply doesn’t have the emotional strength to take on something big. Brilliant!”
Leslie R. Martin, PhD
“When we experience profound pain and loss, it can be a difficult process that we are going through. These simple, short writing exercises are a powerful tool that can help us put language and meaning into an experience that previously felt too overwhelming and confusing to talk about.”
Erin Morgan, LMHC
